There are worse ways to spend money. Don’t read the comments on the page where I found these. Horrible right wing crap. I don’t know why a post about art turned political. People are lame.

This weekend’s Easter adventure was based around attempting the Southern Crossing over the Taurua range…solo. The plan was to hike to Kime hut on day one about 6 hours from the trail head. Then to cross over to Alpha hut along exposed ridge line. Then to finish off by heading down to the car park in Kaitoke on day 3.

Everything went wrong.

London did this first and better, but it still looks cool in Brisbane. That sun was brutal. The Gold Coast is the skin cancer capital of the world. Everywhere you look there is melanoma. They might as well schedule your cancer removal surgery the same time you buy a ticket to the place. Not good for tattoos, gingers, or black metal kids.

I stumbled upon this portfolio today. The bird is the best one, but the others are pretty interesting too.

Red Rock

After a great fish lunch at The Bach in Island Bay, I went for a walk along the coast. There is a trail that climbs a few hundred (maybe a thousand) feet up the hills by the water. It runs along the tops of the ridges for a couple kilometers and ends at a seal hideout. I didn’t make it to the seals. Instead, I just sat on top of this massive hill and looked at the ocean. Ships were sailing by and the sun was out and it looked like a postcard. I have come to realize that my camera does not do justice to the scenery here. I have had to find other things to take pictures of.

With no point and no purpose.

Aukland

I took this shot while wandering around Aukland. The sun came out and went away every 20 minutes. It all seems very surreal still. I keep looking at my pictures and thinking that someone else has taken them.
